Can you really find the whitest white and the blackest black?

In the grand finale of our Dr Geo series, our contestants have just 10 minutes to search an ordinary house for the whitest white and the blackest black they can find. But what seems like a simple game quickly turns into a fascinating lesson in optics, materials science, and real-world engineering.

Together with this episode's Dr Geo, Dr Arjan Dijkstra, we measure each object using a scientific spectrometer to discover how much light it actually reflects—or absorbs.
