What on earth are they trying to visualise? || ES.2 - Dr Geo

In this episode, Dr Geo must guess what data set our contestants are visualising using household items!

Publication date: 16-07-2026, Duration: 41:39

Ever wondered how difficult it really is to communicate data visually?

In this episode, our contestants take on one of the toughest challenges yet: creating a clear data visualisation using only everyday household objects.

Their audience is Dr Barend Köbben - this episode's Dr Geo. He has to guess the hidden dataset based solely on the visualisation—and the fewer hints needed, the better.

From glasses of water and mysterious disappearing socks to homemade geological models, creativity is pushed to its limits.

Along the way, Barend explains what works, what doesn't, and shares fascinating insights into the principles of effective data visualisation, cartography, user-centred design, proportions, symbols, maps, and why clarity should always come before creativity.

Who created the clearest visualisation?

Which dataset proved almost impossible to communicate?

And who climbs the leaderboard after this challenge? Watch to find out!
