Netherlands Court of Audit

The Netherlands Court of Audit examines whether public funds are spent efficiently, effectively, and responsibly. Each year on Accountability Day, we report to Parliament on the government’s revenues and expenditures, helping it decide whether to discharge the cabinet. We also publish separate reports on various topics—from subsidies for electric cars and the costs of offshore wind energy to Brexit preparedness and participation in UN missions in Mali. To stay relevant we have to innovate our audits practices. Making more and better use of geospatial data is one way of doing that.

Our Mission

Amidst all the dynamics of society, we continue to do what we've excelled at for over 200 years: auditing the collection and expenditure of public funds. We will continue to do so. The mission of the Netherlands Court of Audit is and remains: to contribute to improving the functioning and performance of the central government and its affiliated bodies. To this end, we assess whether the central government spends its funds sensibly, economically, and carefully.
